Created for an architectural competition in Innsbruck, this single-family house was conceived as a direct response to its landscape and surroundings. A series of staggered volumes follows the natural topography of the site, framing carefully selected views of the surrounding mountains while creating a rich and layered spatial composition. Terraces, courtyards and planted recesses establish a seamless transition between interior and exterior, allowing architecture and nature to merge effortlessly. Through their articulated arrangement, the volumes integrate naturally into the villa-like neighbourhood while expressing a distinctive and independent architectural identity.
Division and displacement. The division of the building into three primary volumes creates a clear spatial structure, strengthens the functional organization and allows for flexible use over time.
Composition. The deliberate displacement of the volumes generates distinct spatial qualities, frames selected views and creates seamless transitions between interior and exterior spaces.
Integration. Architecture and landscape interact naturally. The built volumes and the garden merge into a continuous spatial composition, forming a unified architectural ensemble.
The house is conceived as a flexible structure. Distinct spatial volumes allow for adaptable use over time and offer the possibility of integrating an additional residential unit in the future. The result is an architecture that responds equally to its context, the surrounding landscape and future needs. Versatile. Adaptable. Sustainable.
Views. Carefully positioned sightlines direct the eye towards Innsbruck’s defining landscape features, making the surrounding mountain scenery an integral part of the spatial experience. Other views are deliberately blocked to ensure privacy.
The material palette draws inspiration from Innsbruck’s alpine landscape and translates it into a clear architectural language. Light- colored, finely textured concrete surfaces give the building a monolithic and timeless presence. Integrated planters weave the architecture into its surroundings, while green metal elements echo the landscape setting and emphasize the articulation of the volumes. In deliberate contrast to the exterior, warm wooden surfaces and natural materials create a calm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the interior.
